Drying

Naturally air drying the boards in a controlled environment is essential to warp free wood. A large board of fine oak may take up to two years to dry and must be held flat by force to restrict the natural movement when drying.

Warped wood is a great waste, the planks need to be trimmed flat causing huge amounts of off cuts which reduces the size of the plank.

Once the wood has been dried for long enough we can take it into consideration when designing a piece of Herefordshire Furniture.
