Mr Pilkington approached Herefordshire Furniture with a vague idea of what he wanted, a table large enough to fit his dining room with an appropriate feel for an old 16th century house with large ceilings. We came to the conclusion a 15ft solid burr oak dining table with bumble bee marquetry inlays in the table top would be ideal for his room.

Mr Pilkington understandably wanted to participate in the creation of his dining room table. A piece of furniture of this scale and value can only be designed once. We took our time to wonder around our wood supplies, he took a shine to a piece of solid burr oak 15 ft long and wide enough for a single piece of wood to be used for the table top.

Once the wood and design had been agreed we set to making the item. At a number of stages Mr Pilkington reviewed the design and often made minor amendments with our help, we bounced ideas between us and always came to the most pleasing decision. We created a great relationship with Mr Pilkington and great solid burr oak dining table that is perfect for him and his house.
